Students turned in Thursday’s homework at the start of class, and then we returned to “Souvenir” to try to figure out and write about the theme. Using computers today, students reviewed their classmates’ ideas about what the theme of “Souvenir” might be. Once we landed on a good theme statement as a class, everyone filled out a Google form with their evidence and introduce/explain/pertain statements as support of this common claim. Then in groups, students got to steal the best evidence as suggested by their class and use it to fill out a power paragraph outline.
