Today I walked students through a review of Wall-E before they each outlined and wrote a power paragraph on the theme of the film. At the end of class, I passed out copies of “Liberty,” a short story by Julia Alvarez that will be the text for our unit assessment on Wednesday. Homework: read and annotate “Liberty” for:

  • Character motivations and changes
  • Resolution of conflict(s)
  • Possible subjects/topics
  • Actual small questions you need answered to understand the text
